ENVI Ortorectification Module

Previously, methods for orthorectifying imagery required extensive knowledge of the process and complex software systems that were not necessarily available to the typical image consumer.  Now, the ENVI Orthorectification Module delivers a trusted, rigorous orthorectification method and robust capabilities, all distilled into an easy-to-use workflow.

This solution creates a seamless data transition, easily taking you from data ingest to orthorectification and further exploitation of results using your ENVI software. Designed for use by non-expert and expert users alike, the wizard-based interface guides users through orthorectification steps to quickly produce accurate results.

The method in the ENVI Orthorectification Module is based on the mathematical model for rigorous orthorectification designed by worldwide ortho experts, Spacemetric. ENVI Feature Extraction Module
Easily extract features from high resolution imagery using this patent-pending, object-based image analysis technology.

Finding objects in an image scene - referred to as feature extraction - is a very useful capability in geospatial imagery workflows. Previous processes for extracting features from an image were complex and time consuming. Now, ITT provides a technologically advanced approach to feature extraction that saves time and effort, while providing the accurate results you need.

ENVI Fx makes it easy to get the information you need from imagery and steps you through the workflow.

The ENVI Feature Extraction Module (ENVI Fx) allows you to quickly and easily extract features from high-resolution imagery. ENVI Fx walks you through the extraction process from image ingest to the export of results, and allows you to extract the features you need. Rapid rendering preview screens readily allow for adjustments at any point in the workflow. And, ENVI Fx is built with a high performance image processing engine to deliver fast results, even with large datasets.



SARscape Family of Modules for ENVI
Read, process, analyze, and output SAR data to integrate with other remotely sensed data and geospatial tools.

The use of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data has become increasingly popular in recent years, offering professionals in a wide array of industries a measurable, analytical approach to getting information about an area or object of interest. SAR is a sophisticated data type, acquired from airborne and spaceborne platforms, and can produce two or three-dimensional datasets of surface areas. When combined and merged with spectral imagery, SAR provides the additional, critical layer of information you need.

Now, the developers of ENVI offer the SARscape® Modules, feature rich add-ons that allow you to easily read, process, analyze and output your SAR data, while giving you the option to integrate that information with your other geospatial data and tools. This unique data analysis capability takes your data from hard-to-interpret numbers to meaningful, contextual information. And, because the SARscape® Modules are integrated with ENVI, you have the added benefit of superior spectral analysis tools and functions in one package.



ENVI Atmospheric Correction Module

The ENVI Atmospheric Correction Module allows you to easily remove atmospheric interference from your imagery, providing you with data that is accurate and reliable.  ENVI treats each image and its atmospheric imprint individually, creating a unique model every time that is a true, reliable representation of a specific image scene. This add-on module to ENVI delivers a flexible solution with the accuracy and scientific detail you need, regardless of your application.

Advanced Methods and Algorithms

The ENVI Atmospheric Correction Module provides different analysis options depending on your specific needs, ranging from an advanced, physics-based technique, to an on-the-fly method for use in real time data processing. When all parameters relating to atmospheric conditions in an image are available to you, the MODTRAN-based Fast Line-of-Sight Atmospheric Analysis of Spectral Hypercubes (FLAASH) technique provides highly detailed, scientifically precise results. Or, if not all atmospheric parameters are available, such as in flight data correction, the Quick Atmospheric Correction (QUAC) method allows advanced atmospheric correction based on information derived from the image in an easy-to-use interface.

Both techniques were developed by Spectral Sciences Incorporated (SSI). SSI scientists are authors of widely recognized computer codes for modeling atmospheric and space environments at infrared, visible, and ultraviolet wavelengths. They are also well known for developing algorithms to remove atmospheric effects from remote spectral imagery of the Earth's surfacep>

The ENVI Atmospheric Correction Module works on both multispectral as well as hyperspectral data and will automatically support a wide array of common sensors.



ENVI NITF Module
World-class support of the government standard NITF file format for image access, viewing processing,and analysis.

The National Imagery Transmission Format (NITF) allows the combination of images, graphics, and metadata in a single file to create an invaluable intelligence resource. It is the preferred standard for government and NATO data.

You can have full NITF support with ENVI, the software you already use for superior image access, viewing, processing, and analysis. The ENVI NITF Module is certified by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) to C-Level 7 - the highest awarded - and includes virtually any feature you need to read, edit, and deliver NITF files including:

  • Reading, writing, & displaying all components of the NITF standard (file, image, text, & DES)

  • File compression: NITF Preferred JPEG 2000 Encoding (NPJE) and Exploitation Preferred JPEG 2000 Encoding (EPJE) for reading, writing, and disseminating compressed data files

  • Converts between NITF 2.0 and NITF 2.1 and NSIF 1.0 formats

  • Reading and writing the government standard for data from commercial satellites, NCDRD (NITF Commercial Dataset Requirements Document), and Secondary Image Format (NSIF) files


ENVI DEM Extraction Module
Improves image analysis workflow by creating spatially accurate, 3-D data representations.

If you are a developer in a defense and commercial industry who uses geospatial imagery, you have likely seen an increasing need for spatially accurate, 3D representations to aid in your analysis.

The ENVI DEM Extraction Module allows you to quickly and easily create spatially accurate digital elevation models (DEMs) of your geospatial imagery. With the module's flexible, step-by-step, fully guided process, you can produce accurate and robust models from virtually any airphoto or satellite stereo pair images with RPCs, including those from pushbroom sensors such as ASTER, IKONOS, OrbView-3, QuickBird and SPOT 1-5.

You can use DEMs independently or use them as a basis for additional analysis, such as orthorectification, topographical analysis, line of sight analysis, and contour map generation.

The ENVI DEM Extraction module saves you time and improves your image analysis workflow with flexible viewing, measurement and editing tools to enhance your 3D representations. These tools are all you need to view anaglyph stereo pairs, measure building or mountain heights, edit DEM values and extract 3D features.



IDL
One of the greatest advantages of using ENVI is your ability to easily extend and customize ENVI functionality with IDL. Now, the IDL development environment is easier than ever to access from within ENVI, and to use.
